Once-a-month Memory Book

Do you love scrapbooking, but hate the time commitment? Then “once-a-month” memory books are for you! Even if scrapbooking isn’t your thing, this craft has a high reward for very little effort; sure to entice even the novice crafter.

My once-a-month memory books

The idea behind a once-a-month memory book is simple: you only do it ONCE a month! At the end of the month you choose a few pictures or souvenirs and sit down and make one (yes, only ONE) page for the month. Write down a few memories or even just write the name of the month and a caption for the pictures you have chosen. At the end of the year you have a fabulous memory book and a way to easily look back on the past 12 months.

Sound fun? Well, then let’s get started.

Start by printing out a few pictures from the month. Then visit your local craft store to get a scrapbook and some good quality markers or pens.

Supplies:

1. 1 scrapbook – We use Recollections 8 x 8 cloth scrapbooks from Michael’s. They have black blank scrapbook pages that are easy to remove, decorate, and store in sheet protectors in the book.

2. Printed photos – We do one full page (front and back) for each month, so I try to print at least 2 pictures per month.

3. Souvenirs – This can be a ticket stub from a concert or game or other memorabilia from a trip.

4. Scrapbooking pens – I just started using Recollections opaque markers, which I really like because they look fabulous on the black paper.

5. Photo safe glue stick or photo mounting stickers

Now set aside a little time to make your page. It is fun to list things that happened during the month, even if you don’t have a picture for the memory.

My family makes one album per year and we also have an album set aside to keep our Christmas card each year.

This is my favorite Weisser post yet. The idea of keeping scrapbooks has just been too much for me with work and house and ministry, but this I can do! Going to Michaels girls, thanks for the idea!

I agree!!! Rachel refined the seemingly overwhelming scrapbooking task into a very simple and do-able craft!

This is SUCH a great idea!!! I used to make all-out very detailed scrapbooks…before kids! The thought of continuing like that is very overwhelming. This is such a great idea because my kids LOVE looking at pictures….I can’t delay printing them out and showing them all the fun we’ve had any longer. This will bring me up-to-date in no time! Thanks for the idea

Cool idea! I was just thinking about doing something like this. Feeling overwhelmed to make full albums, but this is doable. Let’s see if I can do this for June.
