Never Were There Such Devoted Sisters…
Last weekend, it was our sister, Bethany, and newest brother-in-law’s first anniversary, as some of you may have seen from our newsletter or because you were at the wedding one year ago. In honor of that, I thought I would write my post on something that my sisters, Jess and Rach, and I did at the wedding, and in the process you can get to know us a little better. We were all co-matrons of honor for Bethany, so as tradition would have it, we had the responsibility of the Matron of Honor Speech! We figured that we needed to go out with a bang for the last Weisser getting married off…And we definitely did!
A few things about us that you may or may not know:
1. One of our favorite Christmas movies is White Christmas. For those of you who haven’t seen it, go watch it RIGHT NOW! I don’t care if it is September- it is amazing and it will get you excited for Christmas! Ha 🙂 But really, if you haven’t seen it, there are two sisters in the movie who sing a song and do a performance called Sisters, one that has been memorized and sung in our house more times than I can count!

2. We also were (are?? :p Ha!) N’SYNC fans! I mean, what sisters aren’t boy band fans, right?! 🙂
3. We have always been a softball family, making A League of Their Own a family favorite!
4. Last thing to learn about us is that we would not say we are big singing/dancing/performer types…Ok, even though we may choose to for fun or for a funny joke, singing/dancing/performing is not our calling (unless you count Wii Just Dance, Christmas plays when we were kids and maybe an occasional music video or two–May or may not elaborate on some of these in later posts)!
So…we decided to put these three loves into our speech to do a little performance. Yes, we willingly chose to do a singing/dancing performance even with our lack of brilliance in the performing category. First, I found Rockford Peaches costumes like the uniforms that the girls wore in A League of Their Own from Amazon and that started our inspiration. It was also perfect since Bethany and Mike’s wedding was vintage baseball themed! We quickly reviewed the lyrics to “Sisters”. Then, my amazingly creative sister (as you have seen from her posts), Rach, changed the lyrics to a very popular song, which I will keep a surprise until a little later. We put all of this together to create the ultimate matron of honor speech! We surprised Bethany with this whole performance and even got the bridesmaids involved!
A month before the wedding, I moved to the Caribbean, making this performance much more difficult to plan than most “speeches”. But, we decided to go for it anyway, believing that it would come together even if it was the day before the wedding. And…that’s pretty much how it happened. My sisters arrived for the wedding the night before and we took every chance we could to practice and learn the lyrics and a few dance moves to our “speech”. The morning of the wedding we decided we needed some back-up dancers, getting the bridesmaids in on the surprise. Luckily, a few of them knew some key moves for our performance and they soon had a routine on their own! We ran through our performance about two times while Bethany was distracted with pre-wedding pictures and decided that we were as ready as we would ever be!
While Mike’s brothers were giving their speech, we quickly snuck away to do our costume change. As soon as we had our cue, the “stage” was ours! Our initial surprise was the outfits. We walked out starting with a lip-sync of “Sisters” and then were soon joined on the dance floor by our “back up dancers” for the world premiere of our newest single 😉 Bethany and Mike could not believe it, especially Mike since parts of our song told all of their closest friends and family about how he jumped in the pool in his clothes with his phone in his pocket after their first kiss and demonstrated his “best” dance moves! 😀 They really did love it, and as slightly embarrassing as it was singing in front of about 350 people, half of whom we didn’t know. It was totally worth it to end the sister legacy of the Weisser name at Bethany and Mike’s wedding.
(Little did we know then that our name legacy would live on through our blog 😀 )
Here is our video! Feel free to sing along with the lyrics below 🙂

Bye, bye, bye (Our Version)
We’re doing this tonight
Oh, Celebrating Bethany and Mike So put your hands together
Everybody come on
You love each other endlessly
And now you’re really gonna see
That life will be much better
Now that you’re ONE
So excited to have one brother more
It ain’ t no lie
Boys and girls now have an even four
Bethany and Mike
Think of all that God has done for you
Forever leading to this plan he made for two
Such a blessing on this perfect night
Bethany and Mike
From that first kiss you knew it’s true
Mike jumped in the pool in his clothes and shoes
Might sound crazy but it ain’t no lie
Bethany and Mike
Time to hit you with the truth
Mike can dance we all know it’s true
Now join us in some dance moves
Mikey come on
Take it from us sisters three
That now we’ve really come to see
Bethany’s life’s so much better, with you here
So excited to have one brother more
It ain’ t no lie
Boys and girls now have an even four
Bethany and Mike
Think of all that God has done for you
Forever leading to this plan he made for two
Such a blessing on this perfect night
Bethany and Mike
From that first kiss you knew it’s true
Mike jumped in the pool in his clothes and shoes
Might sound crazy but it ain’t no lie
Bethany and Mike
Starting out and we know for sure
So many more adventures that you have in store bye bye
So join us here and raise a glass
Cheers to Bethany and Mike and a love that lasts
So much God has done for you
In this plan for two
Now we’re leaving you,
bye bye
Now your lives can really start
Never be apart
And it ain’t no lie
Think of what God’s done for you
Forever leading to this plan he made for two
Such a blessing on this perfect night
Bethany and Mike
From that first kiss you knew it’s true
Mike jumped in the pool in his clothes and shoes
Might sound crazy but it ain’t no lie
Bethany and Mike
