Nature Hike Crafts
In most places, October is the perfect time to take a walk, hike, or stroll through the beautiful outdoors. Whether you live near the mountains, in a city, near a beach, or in suburbia, there is hopefully something you can enjoy about this season. Harvest. Autumn. Fall. The weather may be that perfect in between temperature. The sun may be starting to come out a little earlier. The leaves may be changing. It is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy creation.
A great way to experience the outdoors is to take an adventure hike or go on a treasure hunt. You can do this with kids, friends, or significant others. The goal could be to try to discover what you can see that may be out of the ordinary, see what things you can collect, or see what you can learn about the different scenery you see. It can be a competition if you want to make a game out of it. Or for a more leisurely walk it can just spur on conversation. One of my favorite things to do on an adventure hike is to see what I can collect to bring home to make a craft.
I live near some mountainous areas so the fall is the perfect time to collect pine cones, pine needles, pine branches, leaves, or other things. Then I try to create decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Some options for holiday crafts could be wreaths, potpourri, centerpieces, mantlepieces, pictures, shadow boxes. There can be all sorts of beautiful masterpieces. Now you may not see a pine cone on its own as a beautiful piece of art, but what can you do with it or how can you display it may change its appearance. And a decoration in your home is much better when it is homemade! A great way to keep kids busy is to let them do their own craft too. So theres a full day of activities right there. Now you may need a couple other supplies other than just the pieces from nature. I would always keep certain things around such as tape, hot glue gun, twine, burlap, buttons, ribbon, and stickers. Have fun with it!

I made this last week with a friend for my mantle. Pinecones, hot glue, leaves (bought the decorative leaves at the dollar store), twine, and one button. Just got a couple items. Had some sort of creative inspiration and revelation after looking for a few minutes on Pinterest, and I just went for it.
What can you create??
