Green Food Cubes
If you are looking for a quick an easy way to add more greens to your food, try “green food cubes!” I started using these food cubes in my toddler’s morning breakfast cereal. Recently, I have been adding them to smoothies and muffins.
Here is how you make them:
1. Assemble ingredients: liquids and greens. I use almond milk, kale, and spinach.
2. Stuff your blender to the brim with greens and then pour your liquid of choice on top.
3. Blend!
4. Add more greens as needed.
5. Pour into ice cube trays.
6. Freeze.
I usually let these freeze over night and then pop them into labeled freezer zip lock bags. Now, it is super easy to throw a few cubes in a toddler smoothie or a muffin recipe. Read about how my mom uses them in her breakfast smoothie recipe here.
My favorite thing about blending is that you can have fun and try lots of new ingredients. So far, I have also tried making the cubes with collard greens, swiss chard, and avocado along with spinach.
What are easy and quick ways you add extra greens or veggies to your recipes?
