Get Out & Get Refreshed – Summer Version
Are you bored by your schedule and routine? Are you in a rut? Sometimes all you need is to get outside or get out of your routine to get a little refreshment! Here are five fun (maybe NEW) ideas to do just that:
1. Try a New Activity with Friends
A few friends and I have recently been planning to attend a “Paint Nite.” There are paint studios all over where you go and get a step-by-step process to all paint the same picture (and it usually includes wine which is a bonus for many!). We are really excited to go be crafty, spend some quality time together, and try something new – and we get a canvas painting out of it, too! Rachel recently tried the “Ladies Night Out” at her local rock climbing gym with friends! There are so many fun, inexpensive ways to find refreshment.
“Learning something new is a fabulous way to be refreshed. When work can grind you down, something about learning a new activity thrills the soul. It reminds you that the world is bigger than your desk and your to-do list.” John Ortberg
2. Go on a Date somewhere you have never been!
Try that new restaurant you have always been wanting to go to; Find a local, free activity; Go somewhere in the city you have never been; go to a movie in the park; find a yoga event in the park; go to a new exercise class with your spouse or find a video online (try YouTube!)
Join a Yoga Challenge! We are currently doing #BackToBackbendsChallenge on Instagram with @kinoyoga @beachyogagirl and @aloyoga for the month of July! Find the challenge on my profile @bekahb623 to join!
3. Go on a Walk, Run, Hike or Bike Ride; Go to a new Park with your Kids
Summer is here which means the sun is shining! It can be so refreshing to just enjoy the sunshine and get some exercise, too! Never underestimate how much good it can do to take a break from your schedule or routine and get outside! Find a new trail or go just a bit further with your exercise than you usually go!

4. Go to your (or try a new) Farmer’s Market to get Fresh Ingredients with a new recipe in mind!
I love trying new recipes and fresh ingredients can be just the motivation you need to try that new recipe that has been sitting on your counter waiting to be made. We also have a really fun local Market Night, which includes a farmer’s market, food trucks, local business booths and more! It is really fun to walk through downtown for a free weeknight activity and it also inspires me to be creative in the kitchen!
5. Check Groupon, Livingsocial, or any other deal sites to find fun, cheap ways to get out!
I just recently found a Livingsocial for a Street Food Cinema – a movie in the park with food trucks! This is something I have always wanted to do and it was a great deal! Summer is a great time to look for movies in the park or on the beach if you are on the coast! These sites also have discounted tickets for runs, like a Color Run, or deals on a spa or massage (can’t get much more refreshing than that!) I also found a unlimited month yoga pass to a studio that I really enjoyed trying with a free week! You may also find something that you have been needing to buy on Groupon Goods, which usually would save you money, giving refreshment in finding a discount and maybe allowing you to use the money you saved for a fun new activity 😀
