Contentment

Hebrews 13:14 “For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our city in heaven, which is yet to come.”

This last term, I caught myself thinking I just want to go home… I wish I was in California… I can’t wait until we go home! All of a sudden I stopped to think, besides family, what am I missing so much about California or “home”? Am I really going to be that much more content when we move back to the states? Is the ease of having a car, having a grocery store that has the foods that I need for my weekly meals, or having an oven going to make me that much happier?? Maybe. But before, I thought that once these two years were over, things would be so much easier and better!

After playing some games with friends the other night, I was reminded that our contentment and happiness can’t be in things of this world because we will never be satisfied. Our joy and happiness needs to be in the Lord only. Things and people of this world will disappoint us and let us down, unfortunately. We need to look to God to satisfy our needs and He will because He is faithful!! So now, I have a different perspective…I need to be thankful for the things I have here and the time I get to spend here. And when we do move to the states, I will find things to be thankful there to remember how blessed I am! And it shouldn’t be too hard being closer to my family and my 6 NIECES and NEPHEWS!!! I will be grateful for this but will not look to my family for my satisfaction. I am reminded that this is our temporary home before we go to Heaven with the Lord. I want to make the most of my time here glorifying my Creator and seeing his blessings in my life no matter if I’m living in an island in the Caribbean, in California or in Timbuktu! Thank you Jesus for this opportunity and help me to conquer each day with your JOY!

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

And this is Kerry replying. How wonderful that you checked out our blog. Rad is the brains behind the scenes fixing everything we need on the computer coding level. I am learning HTML but it is slow. The girls and I decided to do this Blog project together and God has been truly blessing our time working together. We hope it will bless and encourage many and maybe draw others to seek Christ as we try to shine for Him in all we do and in all we write about.
