Have a Healthy Holiday Season
Our Fall challenge is wrapping up and we are so excited to offer you another way to stay plugged in with healthy habits this holiday season.
The holidays are and have always been a favorite in the Weisser family. It is a time to connect and a time for traditions and time together. However, in the past, I have so easily succumbed to the negative effects of parties and traveling leaving me feeling bloated and lacking energy and motivation.
Luckily, I don’t worry about that anymore and I embrace the crazy and fun holiday season. Since changing my nutrition 2 years ago, adding the minerals and nutrient dense foods my body was craving I have found a balance between exercise and healthy eating and sitting on the couch sipping hot chocolate. PLUS, with nutritional cleansing, you can always take a day or two of intermittent fasting to get your cells happy and get back on track. PLUS, you can eat chocolate. HAPPY DANCE!
So what IS this solution? It’s a community of men and women sharing recipes, workouts from professional trainers, snacks, and holiday healthy life hacks to keep you healthy during the holidays and in life! You don’t have to be using our nutrition that we are always talking about (because we LOVE it), but we will be talking heavily about it because IT HAS CHANGED OUR LIVES. It is how we’ve found a convenient and healthy balance to fuel ourselves and our families.
How do you join? We have a private group on Facebook so comment here, on Facebook, or email us at weisserwomen@growingweisser.com.
Important dates:
Saturday, October 29 at 9am PST is a LIVE event to talk all about the challenge and the nutrition we use. This will be in the Facebook group so you will need …
Read MoreWhat is Success?
Do you think about success and how it looks in different areas of your life? For example, what is a successful marriage? Successful parenting? Job success? Personal success?
How do you define success?
According to the dictionary, success is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.”
Last week I shared the importance of writing down your goals, and even sharing your goals with others. Why? So your path to “success” (however YOU define it), is drawn out. So you can define daily action steps to get to your goal. The path might not always be straight, in fact, often our path to success is riddled with failures. However, when we know where we are going, we CAN take those daily steps to get there.
I love this definition of success from Robert Collier, “Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.”
What does this mean to me? It means success takes work. Success takes consistency. Success takes planning. Success takes patience.
This definition also breaks down the path to success in daily steps. We might feel like we aren’t moving forward towards our goals, but daily action steps keep us moving. Daily action steps give us a plan and a way to track how we are moving toward our goals.
I know the journey WILL be tough. So arm yourself for the journey. I am really enjoying the devotions from the YouVersion Bible app. I recommend “Staying Hopeful” and “HILLSONG – Let Hope Rise.” Today’s devotion from Let Hope Rise states, “Singing songs that remind us of the goodness of God, we shift our focus from our own hardships and struggles to his consistent faithfulness. Even more, worship reminds us not to mistake the presence of such hardships and struggles as the absence of …
Read MoreOverload? Reorganize your Thinking
Do you sometimes feel like this??? Our brains are flooded with thoughts, ideas, emotions, stress, tasks, details, and responsibilities. Most of the time we feel like we are on overload. Brain overload is a real thing. And I think I suffer from this disease. I am realizing I need to figure out how to energize my brains to help it function, but also how to relax my brain. If my brain is constantly firing on all cylinders, trying to do five million things at once, I will not be able to function at maximum capacity. And I cannot continue to try to live this way. So here are some tips I have been thinking through and trying to incorporate into my own life.
How to keep your brain at full productivity:
1. Find some time to let your brain rest
2. Find ways you like to recharge (Read, listen to music, pray, exercise, spend time with people)
3. De-clutter your life
4. Turn off your phone
5. Pay attention to when you are able to be most productive
6. Find your routines.
7. Record things so you remember them. Record what works for you. What doesn’t work for you. Record the process of how you got from here to there.
8. Focus on blessings. Think about what you are thankful for.
Get More ZZZ’s
It is Summer Sizzle Week 5, and this is a good one! We are focusing on GETTING MORE SLEEP!
Chances are, you don’t get enough sleep. In fact, most Americans don’t!
Lack of sleep can lead to many health risks including adding pounds to your waistline and taking years off your life!
So what can we do about it?
Get more sleep of course! And not just more sleep, BETTER SLEEP!
- Stick to a routine – plan to get in bed or start relaxing around the same time each night. This is a great time to read a book or put on a podcast. I recommend this “Science of Sleep” podcast!
- Turn off the lights! – If you are like me, you likely watch TV or read books on your phone or kindle device before bed. The light from these devices actually can interfere with melatonin production, which helps control sleep and wake cycles. Use the dimmer function or night shift on your phone!
- Consider what you eat! – are you choosing foods to nourish and fuel your body? Healthy eating and water consumption plays an important role in your sleep!
- Exercise – Consistent exercise is important, but try not to exercise too close to bedtime. If that isn’t possible, cool down after your workout with a relaxing yoga routine!
- Wake up early – This seems counterproductive to getting more sleep, but actually, a better morning routine sets the stage for a better day. And a better day will help you feel less stressed, more relaxed, and better prepared to stick to your bedtime routine to get more zzz’s!
Try tracking your sleep for the next week. If you need any help getting better sleep, staying asleep, or fueling your body right be sure to comment or contact us. We …

Her work captures the activities of daily living that will preserve memories for years to come. So much of Amy’s work is personalized for each client. She pours her heart and soul, her passion and commitment to family into her work. But as a devoted mom herself this presents some challenges to her. So we asked her to be vulnerable and share about how this journey has challenged and blessed her life.
How have you grown emotionally and spiritually as a part of this journey? With regard to her challenges-expected and unexpected, she responded, “It’s been difficult learning how to juggle running a small business with still being a present parent and giving my kids 100% of me. One thing that has been helpful for me has been establishing priorities, work hours and boundaries for myself, to keep myself in-check. Another challenge I have faced was just having the bravery to put my work out there. It’s hard to put your soul out on the web and hope that others will be kind and appreciative to what you do.
When we asked her about the blessings-expected and unexpected that she has experienced she stated, “In putting my work out there though, the positive response I have received has honestly helped increase my confidence and self-worth. I think it’s important as someone who does devote their being to motherhood, to have a creative outlet, or some way to give yourself a sense of self-worth outside of your own motherhood. And I love, love, LOVE that mine relates directly to motherhood and parenthood.
We asked Amy about the wisdom she has gained in the process of turning her passion into her dream career and here are some of her specific answers.
Tips you would want to share with others:”The biggest …

We asked Amy to take us on the journey of how she developed her passion into her thriving photography business and these were her responses…..
What was your original passion and how did your passion for what you are doing now start? How and when did it begin?
My passion began when I was actually in high school. I was awarded the Sterling Scholar Award for Art for my high school and received several scholarships because of it. Circumstances arose in my life that lead me to chose another career path- and funny enough, I have never used my actual degree. A few years ago, my father-in-law, who is a publisher, asked me to become the editor of a community directory he owns. I said yes, and delved into redesigning the entire book. A huge part of the directory is photography, and after one year of relying completely on other amazingly talented photographers, I decided to take the images myself. Afterwards, friends and family began asking me to take their family pictures and my passion for art was reignited.
What steps did you take to make your dream a reality?
“One of the biggest steps I took was to build a website. It can be pretty scary putting yourself out there for the world to judge. There are so many incredible photographers out there. For me, it took a lot of bravery to say, “Look everyone, this is what I love, and where I’m headed.” There are times that feel incredibly rewarding- when a client posts a photo online for everyone to see, or they tell me, “Wow, you really captured our family!” Those moments make me grateful I had the courage to start my business and the bravery to put it out there.”

Amy Golding is a passionate mom and incredibly gifted photographer. We are featuring her on our Passion Perspective this week. Rachel first met Amy at Miss Lana’s Dance Academy, where their children take dance lessons. We will begin our passion Perspective week with “getting to Know Amy Golding”
Here is how she introduced herself in her Growing Weisser Passion Perspective Interview: “Hello! I’m so thrilled to be featured by such an inspiring blog! A little about me- I’m Amy and I have lived in Murrieta, California for the past 7 years! I’m married to a man with the most amazing heart and I have two sweet kids, ages almost 4 and 8. They are my whole world. I have a degree in Microbiology- but my passion is photography. I love photographing the family. Motherhood can be grueling but also the most joyous experience all rolled into one. I believe the grind is what makes it so sweet. Photography is how I document the story of my family, so I can remember the joy and the love we share. It’s so my kids can see for themselves someday how amazing my experience as a mother has been- particularly THEIR mother- and that being a parent is SO incredibly worth every second of worry, pain and heartache that undoubtably happens. The joy and love of family is real and attainable. In the rush and also the drag of the days, it can be hard for other mothers to see the beauty of their life. My goal in my photography is to capture that joy, so you can remember it always, and cherish it. “ Amy met Rachel and her daughters at dance class and she was “instantly drawn to their sweet personalities and the light and goodness they radiate.”
