Anti-Inflammation Foods

As many of you know, I am recovering from a serious back injury.  I am NOT a person that likes to take medicine, which is ironic because I am a certified Physician Assistant and my husband is a Pediatrician. So when this injury occurred, I did not have any choice at first but to take some pain meds and some anti-inflammatory medicine to help me through that first week. Since the pain meds made me crazy, I got off that asap and have continued to take NSAIDs-ibuprofen (Advil) for the past 6 weeks. Now that I am feeling alot better and can actually sit at my computer and compose a paragraph or two, I decided to do some research on foods that have anti-inflammatory properties. …

An All-Star Idea for the All-Star Break

Baseball fans out there! ARE YOU READY FOR THE ALL-STAR BREAK?! Ashkon and I are! Especially since the Giants are not playing well right now…lame!! But, we are hoping this break will revive and regenerate them to finish the season strong!!
Thanks to The Dating Divas, here is a fun and very cute way to make this year’s All-Star break a little more special. You can use this for your husband and have a special date night next week! Or, if you have children that love baseball, they might have fun getting a special invite to watch one or all of the all-star activities! I did this for Ashkon to get him ready for opening day, but it really works great for any part of the season, as well. It was a small task that put a big smile on his face! He loved it! Check out the pics!…

Through the Eyes of a Child

Everything is AMAZING, SPECTACULAR and full of the WOW FACTOR when seen through the eyes of a child! A tomato plant filled with tiny ripe red tomatoes is a glorious treasure that brings curiosity and contentment when the first tiny tomato is picked and popped into the mouth for the sweet sensation of a home-grown tomato. The music of a parade stirs the freedom to dance and the little body starts to rhythmically move and sway.IMG_4893 There are no inhibitions, no restrictions to absorbing all this world has to offer. Eyes, ears, mouth and fingers all open to experience each sensation. The sounds of a wind chime offer a new sound that brings a smile and a request for “more please”!…

The Fourth of July is coming quickly upon us.  Barbecues are being planned, fireworks are being purchased, and travel coordinating is in the works.  It is time to celebrate! But how much do we really know about the holiday we are celebrating?  Yes, I am sure we all know we are celebrating the independence, freedom, and birth of our country… but I am sure there is a little more to the story.  So with a curious mind, I decided to do some research.

Praying for Your Husband

The Power of Prayer

“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value……Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.”(Proverbs 31) As a woman who considers herself blessed to be married to a faithful, loving and well respected man, I am constantly wondering how I can be a more powerful supporter of his extremely demanding and busy life.

You can imagine that it makes cooking a little difficult! But…we do have a TOASTER OVEN!! (And yes we packed it in our carry-on and brought it with us!! One of the best decisions we made for this move!)…

Creamy Healthy Hummus

One of our favorite family snacks is hummus. We love all flavors and most brands, but our very favorite hummus is this  homemade recipe for healthy creamy hummus. Our Babymoon

I thought it would be appropriate to write a post about family and babies, since this past Sunday was Mother’s Day.

Back in February we took a little family “babymoon” trip to the San Diego Zoo. We wanted to enjoy our family of three before baby #2 arrived to make us a family of 4.  I was very grateful for a day to dote on just Elliana. I had a baby shower to attend in San Diego, so we made a day of it and took Elliana to the San Diego Zoo for her first time.

A Tribute to Mom

With Mother’s day coming this weekend, I decided to celebrate my mom, and moms everywhere. Take some time to appreciate your mom or anyone that has been a mom to you throughout the years. Take some time to send a card, make a call, say a prayer, speak a word of encouragement, give a hug. I decided to write a poem for my mom….Love you mom!…
