Never Were There Such Devoted Sisters…
Last weekend, it was our sister, Bethany, and newest brother-in-law’s first anniversary, as some of you may have seen from our newsletter or because you were at the wedding one year ago. In honor of that, I thought I would write my post on something that my sisters, Jess and Rach, and I did at the wedding, and in the process you can get to know us a little better. We were all co-matrons of honor for Bethany, so as tradition would have it, we had the responsibility of the Matron of Honor Speech! We figured that we needed to go out with a bang for the last Weisser getting married off…And we definitely did!
A few things about us that you may or may not know:…
Read MoreHome is Where the Heart is!
The expression, “Home is where the heart is “has not felt so tangible in a long time. When my husband and I arrived in Grenada at the beginning of August, we were both pleased to see how our daughter and son-in-law had adjusted to their island lifestyle. As we met many of their friends and participated in many aspects of their weekly routine, we both realized this has truly become their new home. Although they do not get to spend very much time together because of the demands of medical school, they are facing each day with a good attitude. They have made a wonderful life for themselves here and although it is a temporary stop on their new journey of marriage, they have bonded and are making memories here that will knit their hearts together in a special way forever.

Read MoreLiving Life
How do you live your life? Are you living for today? Are you stuck in the past? Are you planning for the future? Why not just take one step.
I was reading this week a book by my one of my favorite authors Shauna Niequist. The chapter was amazing. She said, “If you take the next right step, if you live a life of radical and honest prayer, if you allow yourself to be led by God’s Spirit, no matter how far from home and familiarity it takes you, you won’t have to worry about what you want to be when you grow up. You’ll be too busy living a life of passion and daring… (p. 124) you just have to take one step, and that when you do, the next one will appear. I tell them the path doesn’t have to be a straight line, and that often it only makes sense when you look back at it” (p.125) (Shauna Niequist, Bread and Wine)
I am always trying to have the perfect plan.…
Read MoreA Fun Way to Practice Colors
My daughter (almost 2) loves practicing her colors. I have been trying to incorporate fun ways to practice during our regular activities and play time. Our favorite color activity right now is water balloons in the bath. Water balloons can be a lot of fun in the bath because you can play with them for a while before they pop.
Here are some different ways to practice:
1. I let Ellie tell me what color balloon she wants. Then I fill it up and toss it in the bath for her.
2. I say a color and ask Ellie to find that balloon.…
Read MoreGammie’s Granola
There are very few things more satisfying than a bowl full of homemade granola with fruit and yogurt. I started making granola when I was a newlywed and once I perfected the recipe I just could not go back to the store bought. This recipe is the basic delicious crunchy style granola with many optional add-ins to encourage experimentation and offering the ability to customize your own favorite variety. Now that I am a grandmother -Gammie is my chosen name- it is now called Gammie’s Granola. Have fun experimenting and enjoy!

The Week of 10,000 Steps
My husband gave me an amazing gift for my last birthday- A Nike Fuel Band. However, since we lived in the Caribbean, we decided that we would order it once we were back in the states for a short summer trip. My husband loves to research things he is excited about, so when he actually had some free time for summer break, he looked at a few Fuel Band alternatives to make sure that he was getting me the best fitness band. That’s when he found the Fitbit Flex! After reading a lot of reviews and watching videos on each bands’ functions, he decided that the Fitbit Flex was the best fit for what I would be using it for! However, by the time it shipped, we were already back in Grenada. So, my parents brought it for me when they came to visit and I have been using it for the first time for the last two weeks!

Read MoreFresh Harvest Vegetable Marinara Sauce
Having a vegetable garden is fun and rewarding. The challenge is to use up the produce as it fills up the kitchen. So I decided to be creative and see how many of the vegetables from our garden I could use up in one recipe. I combined our garden veggies with a few things added from our local farmer’s market and cooked up a batch of vegetarian pasta sauce. We had it for dinner tonight over quinoa spaghetti noodles and it was delicious. I cooked up some conventional spaghetti as well, so my husband and brother had a choice. They both loved it all.

Gift of Friendship
I had coffee with a friend this week that I haven’t seen in ten years. Sometimes I am hesitant to try to reconnect with someone after so long. “What will we talk about? What if things are way too different? What if she doesn’t want to get together?” It could be so many things, but I have to tell myself “what have I got to lose”. We spend so much time analyzing, assessing and worrying about things when we just need to go for it. Whether it’s calling a friend, rekindling a friendship, working through conflict, or meeting someone new… you just have to DO IT. …

I have a serious memory problem. If I don’t write something down the second I think of it, it is gone. Sometimes forever, other times it will randomly come back to me – usually when I’m trying to fall asleep.
It seems at this stage of my life that I am totally incapable of remembering anything that isn’t written down. …
Read MoreLiving out your Faith
How do you live your life? Does what you believe make a difference in how you make decisions? Does it reflect who you are? This week I was reading the part in James that talks about faith and deeds.
In the book of James in the New Testament of the Bible, James 2:18-24,26 says “‘You have faith; I have deeds’. Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. …
