Christmas Cards on Display
Bekah recently wrote a great post about Christmas Cards, and it got me thinking about how much I love this time of year. I love looking through my photos from the months past and choosing the perfect combination of photos to display on our Christmas card. I love sending the cards and I love receiving the cards. This is the part of the year when checking the mail gets really fun! I can’t wait to open the cards we get and display them in our home. …

Halloween is a BIG DEAL for families that have young children. My husband and I did quite a bit of research when our kids were young, about the significance of Halloween and what the holiday actually represents. We made a decision at that time that we were going to look for ways to celebrate the holiday that were more God honoring. …

I am learning more and more how fast little babies grow up. These past 7 months with my second have flown by! Luckily, I have had a fun method in place to track the months since my first was born:
A monthly baby photo shoot.
I love giraffes, so I chose a giraffe theme for my monthly baby photo shoot. …

So you may be wondering how this post fits into the Crafting/Organizational category. Well read on and you will be enlightened. A new wave of meal prep ideas to save time and save money have hit the internet. My most favorite idea to date is the plan, shop, chop and freeze meals that I have been trying.…

In a week, I will be traveling to Florida, leaving my husband to fend for himself! This mostly is in the area of food. Although he is a mean grilled cheese maker 🙂 I thought that maybe he would need a few more options for his week alone! Although this may seem like an easy thing to do or a no brainer, it actually takes quite a bit of planning! I remember, whenever my mom would go on a trip, she would leave us a 5,6,7 page hand-written packet of our schedules, rides to practice, who would be where when, our meals and more. Now, this was for a VERY BUSY family of 6 who only survived by my mom’s color coded planner 🙂 For us, as a family of two, I am going to give you a basic guide to plan meals when you are leaving your husband at home for a period of time……
Read MoreOpen Home, Open Heart- how to stay organized without really trying!
When your passion is people and relationships of the heart are a top priority, staying organized becomes a necessity but not an urgency. When you open your heart to people and open your home to meet their needs, you realized how much time you spend throughout the week focused on the nonessential things in life.…

I have a serious memory problem. If I don’t write something down the second I think of it, it is gone. Sometimes forever, other times it will randomly come back to me – usually when I’m trying to fall asleep.
It seems at this stage of my life that I am totally incapable of remembering anything that isn’t written down. …
Read MoreKeeping track with a Planner
Planning, scheduling, arranging, coordinating, and remembering… It is our life. It is in our nature. It is what we do. One thing we all usually struggle with is… TIME MANAGEMENT. How can we fit it all in? How can we fill up our busy schedule even more?
With everything going digital, the art of keeping a written planner is becoming a lost art. But I find it still very useful. I love to write things down. I love to take notes. I love to keep track of my days. Yes ICal and Google Calendar are very helpful to keep track of big dates, trips, and events and share them with other people. But when it comes to the details, I keep a pen and notebook in hand.
Some tips for Organizing your Planner:…

This blog post is inspired by something I saw on the Today Show. The guest was giving make-up tips. One of her tips was to take out all your make up and throw away anything that you haven’t used recently, only keeping things you actually use. I’ve heard this type of advice before in regards to closet organization: only keep things in your closet that fit, and things that you wear.
I think this is great advice, and I’ve been trying to apply this type of organization in other areas of my life. I think part of this advice stems from being content and happy with who we are right now. …
Read MoreA Work in Progress
This beautiful reflection was written by Jess, two weeks before baby Calvin was born.
“It’s almost time for baby #4 to be here. We are so excited to meet him! But I struggle with the fact that everything isn’t and won’t be ready for him at home. I’m realizing that I humbly and graciously have to accept that I am and will always be a work in progress as a mom. Just like his tiny little nursery (which is a bassinet in our closet). I have to fight the thoughts that “this isn’t enough for him” and “what will people think”, etc… But I am reminded of the perfect Christ child that was born in a manger who didn’t need anything except his mother and father’s love and care. I pray that I can remember this each day as I care for my children and do my best to love them as Christ loves me.”…
