Bucket Head

As a mom of four kids, I am reminded everyday of how their personalities are unique and special. The other day my twins were playing with a bucket of Bristle Blocks and I noticed that my son was playing and building with the blocks, while my daughter was walking around with the bucket on her head. My natural inclination is to tell them often to “stop that”, “don’t do that”, or “this is how it is supposed to be done” – however this is not what I am called to do as a parent.  God has blessed me with extremely different children, who are all over the spectrum of personalities.  They bear the image and likeness of God.  He gave them their temperaments and uniqueness to glorify Him. It is my calling and hope to accentuate their personalities and give God the praise for how He is molding them.  My children are very different than me and I don’t want to shape them into my image of a “good” person, but be a student of each one of them so that I can applaud their uniquenesses.  So, for the time being, I will watch and encourage my children to laugh, play, worship, and put buckets on their heads.  All to the glory of God.
