True Faithfulness
This is to all the women out there… in light of Mother’s Day coming up… We are all struggling. We all want to fit in. We all want to belong. You are worth it. You are enough. You are beautiful. And there is One who is the example of true faithfulness. Turn your eyes, hearts, and minds towards Him

Do you feel inadequate? Do you feel unloved? Do you wonder where you belong?….
These are questions that many people struggle with, but few people admit. Our world screams at us that we are never enough, that we never have enough, and we will never be enough. So we get stuck. We get stuck in the in between of trying to be content with what we have and doing away with the noise that is telling us we need more. We hide our past hurts, struggles, and feelings and fill our time with stuff to cover it all up. Then there is a never ending cycle of feeling inadequate, insignificant, and out of place.
But there is one place where we always fit in. There is one place where we are unconditionally loved. And there is one place where our significance always trumps any definition of success. That place is in the arms of our Father and Lord.…

This month we have been talking alot about clean eating and taking care of your health physically, but I wanted to touch on taking care of yourself mentally and emotionally also. Not just our body needs to be clean, but so do our hearts and our spirits. Now there isn’t one right or perfect way to get yourself right in the right place mentally or center yourself spiritually, each person is on their own journey and takes their own steps. But your heart and soul as just as important as your body. Cleansing yourself on the inside is just as important as eating healthy. It is just as important as being physically fit. Are you exercising your mind to think positively and in the right mindset? Are you exercising your heart to continue to know who you are and what you live for. How do you think about yourself? How do you think about the people around you? How do you think about the life you have been blessed with? Do you think about these things? Take some time to focus on your mind and your heart and you soul.
Now many believe that this mindset, peace or joy is a place you can get yourself to, it is a level you reach of personal satisfaction and achievement. But I believe that the only real abundant life and true peace comes with living your life with the Lord. There is no level of peace that we can get ourselves to on our own. True peace and true joy is in Jesus. On my own I am broken and flawed and messed up, but Jesus is with me putting the pieces back together so I can experience more. And experience Him. I am only truly healthy and focused …

How many different things do you say yes to? What are those things? What things do you say no to? How do those every day little decisions end up affecting your whole life?
We make yes and no decisions all day long, every day. Life is all about choices. Will you say no to getting out of bed and hit snooze one more time, will you say yes to driving the speed limit, will you say yes to another cup of coffee, will you say no to watching just one more show… Some decisions are methodically thought out over time, others are quick and hasty. Some have instant feedback, others have slow results. Some affect only you, others affect numerous people. But regardless, our lives are filled with decision after decision that determine our steps, actions, and ultimately lives.
But don’t be overwhelmed by this seemingly endless cycle of choices… I can think of a pretty amazing way to make it less of a swamped feeling. God has called us to say yes to Him. Saying yes to Christ, yes to following Him, yes to love, yes to His truth. And the rest of the decisions can just flow all determined by the one overall decision. It’s not always an easy process, but it is a simple solution. And it is not just one way, it is THE way. Yes to Christ is the most important part of any decision. It is the thing we have to remember and cling to. It isn’t about saying no to the other things. It is about saying yes to pursuing Christ, pursuing what the Lord wants, and having everything in your life revolve around that one important decision. And other decisions are decided upon by this yes. Rather than all …

The hero of courage and honor
Hero… A hero is a “person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities”. A hero. There is such an overwhelming sense of inspiration and awe that goes along with that word. We all know one personally, we all want to be one, or we all can think of one. But there is that person. We have people in our lives that stick out, make a difference, and leave their footprints in our lives. From the time we were born until now, there is always that hero adventuring through our books, running through our cartoons, and leaving a lasting memory. And hopefully those heros have the noble qualities that compel their brave deeds to make a difference for the better. And we leave forever changed.

Read MoreYour Story Needs to be Written
I read a devotional this week about writing your story a little bit every day. We can get so bombarded with to do lists, laundry, cleaning, cooking, that we don’t put down our lists and really take the time for people. “Marriage isn’t about a well-executed to do list, and Aaron would much rather eat takeout and hunt around for a clean basket of laundry if that means I put down the list and really listen to him.” (Niequist, “Savor”, p. 97) I find myself doing this all the time. I have my agenda and my to do lists and I don’t look at the world around me. How many times has my husband come home and I am knee deep in cooking or chores or an email and I don’t take one minute to give him a huge and say hi. In that moment I missed an opportunity.
I keep thinking I have to have it all together, it all has to look good and clean and perfect. But life is messy. There are ups and downs, there are messed up meals, and there are dirty rooms. But the best part, life goes on. Shauna says, “I am learning that being connected in a deep way is so much more than being well-organized, efficient, buttoned-up, and tidy. I default to tidy when what my husband wants and needs more than anything is laughing, listening, and playing, being with instead of being efficient” (Niequist, p. 97). Does this resonate with you? Do you want to accomplish things rather than just sitting and being? Don’t get so caught up in achieving that you miss the moments of love, life, and laughter that are just waiting for you. Chores and errands can wait, but your story can’t. It will keep on living …
Read MoreSpiritual Health: Peace and Purpose
What does it mean to be healthy? What kinds of things do you do to be healthy? We pour so much time and effort into healthy living, healthy eating, healthy habits, and healthy thinking. It takes intentional effort. It takes planned out thought. It takes discipline. It takes saying yes to certain things and no to others. In the moment you may be what you think might be sacrificing, but you are trying to make certain choices, change, and change your lifestyle because of the lasting benefit. A good time to focus on this spiritual health, is Easter…

Read MoreHow we quiet our hearts and minds
Life is busy… Do you find most of your days filled to the brim? What do you do to relax or find peace in the chaos? Here are some of the things we do!
Bethany:
Most recent read: You and Me Forever, by Francis Chan. This book is an incredible picture of how our marriages are really for the Lord and His kingdom but we so easily get distracted by having the “perfect marriage”. It changes the way you view marriage. It isn’t telling you to not enjoy it or be completely in love with your spouse, but you need to shift the way you view it. This book is really helping me put things in perspective and worship the Lord . Here is one quote.
- “…most marriage problems are not really marriage problems. They are God problems. They can be traced back to one or both people having a poor relationship with God or a faulty understanding of Him” (p. 20-21).
Current devotional: Experiencing God Day by Day, by Henry Blackaby. This devotional takes Scripture and specific stories and examples in the Bible to draw out principles to learn and grow from for each day. I love getting a small snippet of the Word and an applicable example that I can apply to my life.
How do I find peace: I like to spend time writing, journaling, praying, listening to music. I actually find peace exercising, running is a release for me.
Peace in the Storm (reposted)
Alot of things have been going on in life lately. I haven’t been directly experiencing anything too crazy… except for normal life, which in a sense, always has its fair share of chaos. But I have been witnessing many storms happening to people very close to me. And because of the way I am wired up, I feel very deeply for the circumstance, the pain, the fear, the doubt, whatever emotion is joining that experience. I want to help, I want to be there for the people, I want to lend a helping hand. But in these certain situations, the distance is a little too far to stop by and drop in to help. So it leaves me feeling a little helpless. Which in reality, it is not my fault if I cannot be there to chip in. It is a blessing to love to serve and love to help out, but I can’t take that to a whole other level of obligation. If I believe God’s power is as mighty and powerful as God’s word and the truth I believe says it is, I have to believe in that power in situations where I feel helpless also. Ultimately I have nothing to give in and of my own power. My own strength, my own love for people, and my own servants heart belongs to the Lord. So out of a position of gratitude, honor, and praise to the Lord I can sometimes be of help to people. But I forget sometimes the best thing I can do is pray. Pray for them, pray with them, pray about them… Prayer is powerful.
So if God is the perfect peace in the storms of the Bible, he can also be the perfect peace in my life and the lives of those …
Read MoreAmazed
Are you amazed at the power and the word of God? Do you reflect on that enough? God is amazing. What He did is amazing. What He will do is amazing. His plan is amazing. His power is amazing. His creation is amazing. He moves in amazing ways every day. He is the definition of amazing. He is the only thing that really encompasses the true meaning of the word amazing. Everything else doesn’t even come close to fascination and the marvel we should have of God.
As I listen to this song, I want to live in a state of wonder and awe of Jesus. I ask for incredible things to happen all the time, but am I really looking for them? Do I really believe? Am I seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary? It is all around me, all the time, I just have to choose to see it. God is amazing. His creation is amazing. The Lord is amazing inside of me. Am I living that way? I think the more and more we are amazed and in wonder of who God is the more I can live in a place of who God created me to be in Him.
“Cause you are beautiful in all your ways
King of Kings
You are beautiful in all your ways
Ooooh
Cause you are beautiful in all your ways
Just close your eyes
Just close your eyes, you’ll see him
You are beautiful in all your ways
Open the eyes of our heart to see you God”
Are your eyes open? Can you see God? Look around you. See God in the little things. See God in the big things. Be amazed at His power. Don’t just think its expected or that God is intangible. He is real, He …
