Years of Wisdom
At what age do you become known as full of wisdom? This week we have been celebrating my husband’s grandma’s 93rd birthday. So she is my grandma-in-law, but that is just a mouthful. So we will just call her Grandma Kay as the rest of the family does. 93 years. That is a LONG time. 93 years on this earth means you have experienced so much, seen so much change, and lived through so many different moments of history. Wars. Politics. Government. Economy. Religion. Revolutions. Technology. Natural Disasters. Styles. Trends. Culture. Entertainment.…

I had coffee with a friend this week that I haven’t seen in ten years. Sometimes I am hesitant to try to reconnect with someone after so long. “What will we talk about? What if things are way too different? What if she doesn’t want to get together?” It could be so many things, but I have to tell myself “what have I got to lose”. We spend so much time analyzing, assessing and worrying about things when we just need to go for it. Whether it’s calling a friend, rekindling a friendship, working through conflict, or meeting someone new… you just have to DO IT. …

How do you live your life? Does what you believe make a difference in how you make decisions? Does it reflect who you are? This week I was reading the part in James that talks about faith and deeds.
In the book of James in the New Testament of the Bible, James 2:18-24,26 says “‘You have faith; I have deeds’. Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. …

Here is a situation I often run in to: I make an awesome stir fry. I cook some healthy brown rice to go along with it. The meal is delicious… But there is just too much rice leftover! What can you do with all this rice… So I spent some time searching through a number of brown rice recipes, found a few, modified them, and created my own. I will give two variations of a similar recipe.
Keeping track with a Planner
Planning, scheduling, arranging, coordinating, and remembering… It is our life. It is in our nature. It is what we do. One thing we all usually struggle with is… TIME MANAGEMENT. How can we fit it all in? How can we fill up our busy schedule even more?
With everything going digital, the art of keeping a written planner is becoming a lost art. But I find it still very useful. I love to write things down. I love to take notes. I love to keep track of my days. Yes ICal and Google Calendar are very helpful to keep track of big dates, trips, and events and share them with other people. But when it comes to the details, I keep a pen and notebook in hand.
Some tips for Organizing your Planner:…

It’s getting closer! How are you going to celebrate our independence with your family? First of all you should look at last Friday’s post to share some facts of our history with your family. But what are some fun and patriotic things to do? Here are a few:
Fly your Flag (rules and regulations of flag: http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagcode.htm)

Fourth of July Facts!
The Fourth of July is coming quickly upon us. Barbecues are being planned, fireworks are being purchased, and travel coordinating is in the works. It is time to celebrate! But how much do we really know about the holiday we are celebrating? Yes, I am sure we all know we are celebrating the independence, freedom, and birth of our country… but I am sure there is a little more to the story. So with a curious mind, I decided to do some research.

Do you feel inadequate? Do you feel unloved? Do you wonder where you belong?….
These are questions that many people struggle with, but few people admit. Our world screams at us that we are never enough, that we never have enough, and we will never be enough. So we get stuck. We get stuck in the in between of trying to be content with what we have and doing away with the noise that is telling us we need more. We hide our past hurts, struggles, and feelings and fill our time with stuff to cover it all up. Then there is a never ending cycle of feeling inadequate, insignificant, and out of place.
But there is one place where we always fit in. There is one place where we are unconditionally loved. And there is one place where our significance always trumps any definition of success. That place is in the arms of our Father and Lord. …

What better gift is there than coupons! Coupons for quality time, coupons for a special gift, coupons for a favor, or coupons for a special event… They can cover almost any idea. And you can be creative as you want! They are “I OWE YOU”‘s, but it does not mean that it is a gift that should be forgotten. So, making actual tangible coupons makes sure that each specific coupon can be cashed out for the gift. And it makes the special birthday or holiday last even longer! For this blog post we are going to talk all about Father’s Day and what we can do for dads! You can make a sheet of coupons, a jar of coupons, a book of coupons, an envelope filled with coupons… the options are endless. Coupons are always one of my favorite gifts to give. Because coupons usually end up in time spent together, which I love! But let’s make this Father’s day a special one by filling days and weeks with special things for dad! So here are some ideas.

- Are they coupons from a daughter or a son?
- What is the age of the child giving the coupons (for you moms that are helping with gifts)?
- How can a child help their dad?

The “Aha Moment” is living in the moment
Is there an “AHA moment” in life? The past few days I have been asking myself over and over “what is my dream?” “what are my hopes?”… People have been asking me- “If you could do anything what would you do… If you could be anything what could you be… If you could create your dream job, what would it be? Your dream house? Your dream location?… I struggle with this… The one dream. The EVERYTHING.…
