Family Photos that Last a Lifetime

—“A picture is worth a thousand words” —–“A picture is a poem without words” (Horace)—–“Photograph: A picture painted by the sun without instruction in art” (Ambrose Pierce)—–“There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs” (Ansel Adams)—

“If pictures are worth a thousand words, than photo books are worth a million”

I love pictures. I love how they can grasp memories and take you back to that place every time you look at the photographs. One of my favorite crafts used to be scrapbooking- creating pages and books to relive certain events or times of my life and to have for a lifetime to look back on and remember such pivotal years of my life! …

Oh, Christmas Card. Oh, Christmas Card…

Now, I know what you are thinking just from reading the title! “It’s not even Halloween yet and you are already writing a post about CHRISTMAS?!?” However, I have a legitimate point to my timing of this post 🙂 Many sites and stores are giving major discounts for being on top of your Christmas cards and getting them done early! But, I have found that a lot of people are unaware of how many options you really have for personalized photo Christmas cards. The most common place that I know of is Costco- Easy and Affordable. And, don’t get me wrong- I LOVE COSTCO! Unfortunately, many other people do, too, which means that you run the risk of using the same template that 50 of your closest friends may choose! Today, I am going to give you a list of some other options to try this year if you feel like branching out!…

Homemade Taco Seasoning

A couple weeks ago, a friend invited me and my husband over for dinner! It was so delicious, and it was such a simple recipe. It consisted of chicken, taco seasoning and salsa in the crock pot. This inspired me to take this recipe a little further. First thing on my list was to find a recipe for a homemade taco seasoning!

Organizing a Meal Plan

In a week, I will be traveling to Florida, leaving my husband to fend for himself! This mostly is in the area of food. Although he is a mean grilled cheese maker 🙂 I thought that maybe he would need a few more options for his week alone! Although this may seem like an easy thing to do or a no brainer, it actually takes quite a bit of planning! I remember, whenever my mom would go on a trip, she would leave us a 5,6,7 page hand-written packet of our schedules, rides to practice, who would be where when, our meals and more. Now, this was for a VERY BUSY family of 6 who only survived by my mom’s color coded planner 🙂 For us, as a family of two, I am going to give you a basic guide to plan meals when you are leaving your husband at home for a period of time……

The Here & Now

Medical school is a long process. The first two years are Basic Science studies (two years of sitting in the classroom, learning a lot of long hard words that I can’t even pronounce- Good thing I’m not the one trying to become a doctor HA!). The next two years are Clinical Years or Rotations- the fun hands-on experiences that help you figure out what kind of doctor you want to be. Then, there is Residency, anywhere from two to six years (depending on your practice and specialty) when you are a doctor, but not really. After residency, you may do a Fellowship, which is more training but in a sub-specialty for one to three years. Eventually, you actually become a doctor! …

Never Were There Such Devoted Sisters…

Last weekend, it was our sister, Bethany, and newest brother-in-law’s first anniversary, as some of you may have seen from our newsletter or because you were at the wedding one year ago. In honor of that, I thought I would write my post on something that my sisters, Jess and Rach, and I did at the wedding, and in the process you can get to know us a little better. We were all co-matrons of honor for Bethany, so as tradition would have it, we had the responsibility of the Matron of Honor Speech! We figured that we needed to go out with a bang for the last Weisser getting married off…And we definitely did!298416_10151026193521261_2126863392_n

Living Beyond Yourself

This last Friday, I led my first women’s Bible study! We are doing a study called Living Beyond Yourself by Beth Moore! If you have never done a Beth Moore study, I highly recommend it! She is one passionate lady ready to kick your butt into gear to have your life transformed through God’s Word! For our first meeting, we got to know each other a little better since there were first-timers to the island, returners of the group from last year, and students joining the group for the first time!We watched the introductory session video that broke down the foundation of our study- Living Beyond Yourself. There were so many great points, but I am going to highlight some of my favorites that Beth taught us.…

Healthy Baked Oatmeal Muffins

A friend and I are in a very similar life situation right now – We are newly married, soon after the wedding we moved to a foreign country, and now we have lost our husbands to the “Dreaded 4th Term of SGU.” Needless to say, in just the first few weeks of 4th term, we already rarely see our husbands, and it will most likely only get worse. Our solution: Cook and Bake together to keep each other from missing our husbands too much! And, then in return, we get happier husbands with full tummies from our dinners and fun sweet treats! We had our first day and boy was it a success. We took a delicious-sounding recipe that another friend had given us and made it even better!

Paper Flowers

This is one of my favorite crafts! I use these paper flowers as home decor, embellishments on other crafts and jewelry (you can also do this style with fabric), and it was the main craft piece in my wedding!
