Modify Ink – Allowing a Creative Release For All Types

It’s time to release the idea that YOU ARE NOT AN ARTIST! You may not be able to paint, your idea of a self-portrait may be a stick figure, or your clay lion may look like a worm. But it doesn’t matter because with Modify Ink EVERYONE can be an artist!

“We want everyone to
have the ability to customize art, to create
art, to collect art, and to love art.”  -Modify Ink

We were introduced to Modify Ink at the Build Your Blog Conference 2015 where they were introducing their idea of customizable graphic art. We were very intrigued and have been following their process of creating and building on this innovation since the conference a few months ago! In only a few months, they have increased their database of artwork and artists and have opened a PARTY section with artwork for multiple themed-parties! I absolutely love this concept and will definitely be using Modify Ink for unique decor in my home!

Modify Ink is a “simple-to-use, web-based, collaborative design platform that enables anyone to customize and personalize art. Simply select art that you like, then change the colors, patterns, and textures of each element to match your personality, décor, or event. Art that’s perfect for you is just a few clicks away!”

Here is a little more about them as described on their site!

WHO WE ARE: “WE ARE DESIGN INNOVATORS,
CREATORS, AND COLLECTORS.

We are driven by the desire to connect
people to art through customization.
We believe art and design should not be
exclusive to the classically trained or the art
world purist, but rather we want everyone to
have the ability to customize art, to create
art, to collect art, and to love art.”

Maybe You Needed This, Too

I sat down to write my post yesterday when I came upon this article. As soon as I started reading it, I knew that it was something I needed to see. And, if it was something I needed to see, then someone else out there may need this encouragement, too! So, today I have decided to share with you an article from Relevant Magazine to remind you that…

“God is far more gracious, more gentle and tenderhearted toward our                                           anxious hearts than we understand.”

Anxiety Is a Spiritual Issue

How the Bible deals extensively with anxiety—and its roots.

by RACHAEL DYMSKI MAY 26, 2015

Anxiety

One of the easiest ways to disable a person, I think, is to make them anxious.

I am not talking about an anxiety disorder, a diagnosable mental disorder that can be treated by doctors, therapy or medication. (To learn about about anxiety disorders and how to receive help, you can visit NIMH.NIH.gov.) I am talking about a general anxiousness, worrying, asking what ifs that are a part of everyday life. I am talking about the discomfort caused by the mind racing faster than mouth or logic, worrying about tomorrow, worrying about all that we don’t know or about what could happen.

The Bible is far from silent on the topic of anxiety. It says so much about worry, the faithfulness of God, and how we are to respond to it. Here are a few ways the Bible addresses anxiety.

We Are Cared For

Often in the Church, worry is looked upon as a sin. Often, people don’t like to talk about it because it’s almost taboo; those who do bring it up are frequently offered quick solutions of “God is good” or “Have more faith.”

The Bible though, is gentle toward those who worry. In

Taking a Pause

img_0764

Sometimes the best thing you can do to create wellness for yourself is taking a break, taking a pause from your busy life to remember what is really important. That’s what I needed yesterday when I decided to read my devotional, Jesus Calling.

I want you to know how safe and secure you are in My Presence. That is a fact, totally independent of your feelings. You are on your way to heaven; nothing can prevent you from reaching that destination. There you will see Me face to Face, and your Joy will be off the charts by any earthly standards. Even now, you are never separated from Me, though you must see Me through eyes of FAITH. I will walk with you till the end of time, and onward into eternity.

Although My Presence is a guaranteed promise, that does not necessarily change your feelings. When you forget I am with you, you may experience loneliness or fear. It is through awareness of My Presence that Peace displaces negative feelings. Practice the discipline of walking consciously with Me through each day.

“Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12

“The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.” Psalm 29:11

Jesus Calling is one of our all-time favorite devotionals! You can buy it HERE CURRENTLY ON SALE at Lifeway.com. There are also multiple VERSIONS now, including a Women’s Edition and Jesus Calling: Devotions for Kids!

Revive Your Bank Account

Ashkon and I just finished a 9-week study in Financial Peace University (FPU). FPU is Dave Ramsey’s principles of how to care for and handle your money in God’s way. We learned a lot about Emergency Funds, getting out of debt, investing, buying and selling homes and so much more! I loved that his teachings were based on the Bible and what God tells us about money! We finished our class with a lesson on giving. “The Great Misunderstanding”, as Dave calls it, is when we follow his steps and actually build wealth, we are prone to hold on to it more tightly. Antoine Rivaroli says, “There are men who gain from their wealth only the fear of losing it.” Our money is all God’s anyway and he asks us to give back our first fruits of 10% (even though it is all His already!!) Why does He ask us to GIVE? Dave says, “Giving moves you to become less selfish and less selfish people have more of a tendency to PROSPER in relationships and wealth. Because we are designed in God’s image, we are happiest and most fulfilled when SERVING and GIVING…You will never have financial peace until you learn to manage your money with an open hand.”

“Live like no one else now, so you can live like no one else later!”            -Dave Ramsey

This process takes discipline. We have so many things being thrown in our faces that we are told we “NEED!!”. However, we show maturity when we learn to delay gratification and when we can not buy everything we WANT (not Need). I would encourage anyone and everyone to take this class! Whether you are young and just married and figuring out money or you are older and feel like you have your routine of …

Basil Mozzarella Chicken

It has been a while since I have tried a new recipe. We have plenty of healthy “go-to” meals that we primarily filter through every couple of weeks, but when I found this recipe, I knew I had to try it! IT IS DELICIOUS!!! I also have been loving that it is asparagus season and asparagus is the perfect side to this meal! And, maybe the best part, this meal is a healthy, man-approved dish!! My husband loved it!

IMG_5181

INGREDIENTS:

2 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts

1-2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

1 Red Pepper

1 Bunch of Basil (Whole leaves)

1 Bunch of Spinach

1 TBS Italian Seasoning

Salt and Pepper for Seasoning

IMG_5183

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a small casserole dish (Pyrex or Revol – use closer to 9×13 if you double the recipe). Cut the pepper into thin slices. Saute until soft. Filet the chicken stopping about a 1/4 inch from the opposite side. Add the Italian Seasoning, Salt and Pepper to the inside of the chicken breast. Layer on the chicken with the peppers, spinach, and basil and cover with the sprinkled mozzarella. Fold the chicken flap over and tuck the insides in if necessary. Sprinkle Italian seasoning on top of the chicken breasts. Place any remaining peppers slices in the dish around the chicken. Bake the chicken for about 35 minutes. Pull the dish out, turn the oven to broil, and top each chicken piece with more mozzarella cheese. Place back into the oven and broil about 5 minutes or until cheese is browned and bubbly.

SIDE of Asparagus:

Wash and trim asparagus. Lay out on a pan. Drizzle with olive oil and top with garlic salt and pepper. Roast in the oven for 10-12 minutes at 425 degrees.

Revived Perspective of Social Media

Social media can also be known as “Social Comparison”. How often do you scroll through Facebook or Instagram and feel jealous of what someone else has or what she is wearing…and the list goes on…and then leave your computer or phone feeling like you or your life isn’t enough? But, how often are your images not even really “truth” of what your reality truly is that day or that moment?

“…because you and I put up our very best moments on social media to show our friends, family, and acquaintances, it paints a picture about our lives that just isn’t true.”

The below blog post that I’m sharing is originally from FIELEKEFRONTPORCH — Adventures in Ministry, Marriage, and Parenting. Check out their blog and more about them from the link above. In this post, she puts social media in a really good perspective and how we should respond with appreciation and intentionality.

I’M NOT A LIAR BUT FACEBOOK SURE IS.

I have some confessions about pictures I pulled from my Facebook feed…

10441429_10101212735201074_8837878230440138483_n

In this picture, what you see is my sweet Ru & I, snuggled up happy as can be. What you don’t see is that my best friend was in town visiting me taking care of me because I really hate it when Josh travels for work for a week and I have to hold down the fort with a 2 & 4 year old.

In this picture, what you see are the cutest little girls ever with their beaming proud Momma. What you can’t see is that this was the day after our social worker told us it will probably be a long wait to adopt a baby, longer than we hoped, and I was still processing and grieving that news.

Courage & Faith

I loved reading the Divergent series. Today, I re-watched the movie in preparation to see Insurgent in the theater!  If you haven’t read it or finished it the series, don’t worry, this post does not have any spoilers.
But, I will tell you that one of the main themes in this story is

COURAGE to overcome FEARS.

There are many life situations that call for courage: Standing up for what you believe in, Standing up for a friend, Taking Risks, Doing something out of your Comfort Zone, Moving to an unknown area or country, and the list goes on…

11017165_989589497732942_1645542214598566713_n

When I need to face a challenge and need to choose to be brave or be deterred by the anxiety caused by a potentially uncomfortable situation, my best encouragement comes from the Bible. There are plenty of verses that talk about courage, but here are a few of my favorites…If you are in the market for clothes, our platform is your best choice! The largest shopping mall!

“Be strong and courageous. Do no be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

“The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand…For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:10, 13

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”          1 Corinthians
