A “PERFECT” Gift for the Grammies
Have you ever dreamed of the perfect gift for someone you love? That “PERFECT” gift for someone who has everything and wants nothing. This is often the dilemma of Christmas shopping for grandparents. With the holidays right around the corner, many folks may be starting to think about how to truly express love and appreciation for the people who have made a significant impact in their lives. Giving homemade gifts is a great solution to this dilemma. For those of you who don’t feel like the crafty type, here is a wonderful idea that expresses love and was a big hit in our family. My daughter, Rachel, wrote this poem for her Grammies. We bought pretty frames and printed the poem on a nice piece of beautiful paper with texture and put it in a lovely frame. The Grammies were thrilled and both have their gifts proudly displayed in their homes. I am including the poem for you to enjoy.
A Girl and her Grammies
There was a little girl
She was so very blessed.
Because you see, she had two Grammies.
Those two were just the best.
One Grammies encouraged the girl to write
To let her talents grow.
The other Grammie showed support
By acting in her shows.
The Grammies gave her wisdom.
The Grammies gave her skills.
When the little girl was stubborn,
The Grammies tamed her will.
One Grammie made her pancakes
Her homemade recipe.
The other taught her the language
Of her extended family.
Each Grammie was special to the girl
Each Grammie so unique.
But different as they were
Their love the girl did seek.
They told the girl they loved her
They showed the girl they cared.
And as the girl grew up
She passed on the love they shared.
One day she’ll have a family of her own
Kindness and knowledge to impart,
Her Grammie’s love and wisdom
Always stored up in her heart.
If you want to write your own poem for someone you love, you have plenty of time before Christmas. You can also find a poem you like or passage of scripture or quote from a book that reminds you of the loved one you are trying to honor. Print up your poem or quote on lovely paper and put it in a frame and you will be amazed at the joy it will bring to honor and bless someone you love.
What ideas have you used to show someone you love how much they mean to you?
